Threat Awareness for Law Enforcement
www.secondsight-ts.com
Description: In the Threat Awareness Program, you will learn the active threat assessment methodology and how to systematically observe your environment and identify active threats. Skills which will keep you safe and your community safe. Active threat assessment involves the identification of immediate or imminent threats. Based on social science research, our methodology allows you to focus your attention from a crowd to an individual or group of individuals displaying behaviors that may be threatening or suspicious. Through early identification, your preemptive action can mitigate a threat to persons or property. You will also learn to identify and assess threat indicators - specific behaviors which may signal a person is carrying weapon, trying to avoid detection, or is a threat. By the end of the program, you will have a working knowledge of the terms and concepts associated with active threat assessment and be able to:
- assess a behavioral baseline using the Behavioral Baseline Instrument (BBI);
- identify the roles, deviations, and objectives of those they are observing;
- evaluate behavioral threat indicators and their relevance to the baselining process;
- and assess a baseline, identify a Person of Interest (POI), and recognize a potential threat.
The online program is comprised of four courses. It includes a mix of lectures, videos, and video-based exercises. The program is certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) through their National Certification Program.
